****ing midterms...

Remember how I mentioned that I'm taking a Foothill College class on C++ online?

Sometime today I have to log on for an hour, take the midterm (notes ok, books ok, compiler, not okay), and do well on it.

I need to do well on it.

Anyway, I'm doing a stellar job of avoiding that problem, and I'm afraid I may do it at 10:30 tonight...

No, I'm gonna do it BEFORE dinner. I will. Honestly.

I mean it.

I just need to play a bit of EV-Nova before hand...

Welcome to the first post made on this blog.

Might as well tell everyone who the heck I am.

My name is Eric Miller, known online as Wraithfighter. I'll get to the screen name later.

I’m currently a Senior in High School, Captain and First Board of the LAHS Chess team (four years on it), four year member and sub-team leader of LAHS Robotics (winner of the Animation award at nationals), and hopefully a physics tutor as well. And, thanks to the magic of the internet, I’m taking a Intermediate C++ class over at Foothill college via internet. It takes several hours out of my busy wednesday nights, but I’m still alive :).

I work on the weekends at a small videostore called Videoscope. I usually work 13 hours a week, unless college stuff or robotics or something else requires me to miss a few hours. My boss doesn’t mind much, after all the less I work the less she pays me. Not like that’s much: I’m paid minimum wage. And I’m happy about that.

Truly a perfect employer-employee relationship :).

Finally, I’m a moderator of the Warcraft 3 Forum on a website called Infoceptor (Warning: Shameless plug ahead). You can find it at www.infoceptor.com. It’s a site based entirely around the superb products that Blizzard Entertainment puts out every few years: Starcraft, Diablo I and II, and the three Warcrafts. I spend a lot of time on those boards, and I am well respected for it. I am also a medium gamer that spends way too much time online.

Now then, we got School, Work, and Play. You must be wondering how someone with so many responsibilities can actually have a social life offline.

Yeah, about that...

I don’t.

My social life comes together when I’m with the robotics team or when I’m forced to go to a dance by my parents. I may go to prom this year. But it only occurs then.

My interaction with girls outside my family basically involves me talking to them at school and wishing to myself I could work up the nerve to ask them to a dance.

Only once I’ve been able to say how I truly feel about a girl to her, and then it was a bit too late...

Bah, that will come into play when it does. I’m a great believer in the fact that there is always a second chance.

I should explain Wraithfighter a bit before I end this post. I was looking for a cool screen name a few years ago and played around with my favorite unit in Starcraft, the Wraith. I threw fighter on the end for the heck of it.

It’s stayed with me for several years. I’m guessing at least 3 years. I’ve come to identify with Wraithfighter, in a sense. It’s come to represent me. I don’t seem very shy, if you see me in class. I’m very forthright with my opinions. However, I tend to hide my true feelings. I don’t make myself known, and I tend to hide in shadows a lot.

Anyway, back to the grind. Taking three college level classes at once (physics AP, Calc BC AP, and C++) tends to drain you a bit.

I’ll try to post on this blog at least every other day.
